South Carolina currently requires a boater education card from all persons under 16 years old who are unaccompanied and operate a boat or personal watercraft of 15 hp or more in South Carolina.
Additionally, many insurance agencies offer a boat insurance discount for all boaters who have taken a boating safety course.
